3 Questions on Unit 2 Assignment
For Unit 2, conducting a rhetorical case study is not going to be easy. I first need to find something that I can write about, I have no idea what I am going to write about. When I find what I am going to write about, I do not know what the Toulmin method is, so I want to learn that so I can actually do my assignment. Lastly, I do not know what kind of evidence can be found about my subject. It sounds impossible to have evidence on television so I am leaning towards writing evidence but that does not seem easy because the internet would have a lot of secondary sources.

I agree with you that is not going to be easy at all. I am really worried about my topic too since I have no idea what to write about. I also think writing evidence will be more helpful than TV evidence. The book helps you understand what a Toulmin is. Is not that hard is just kind of confusing.
I'd go for magazine and newspaper articles. but honestly, I don't have any idea what topic I'm choosing either so I guess it depends on the actual topic on what evidence would be more beneficial. In the Toulmin model,"arguments begin with claims, which are controversial statements you hope to prove." pg 147
I think that the more creative and unique you can make your sources the more interesting it is going to be to analyze them. By finding a topic that you like and then finding interesting sources I'm sure you will have a lot more to write about than you think. Coming into this I didnt know what the Tolmin method was either. Hopefully we go over it more in class today.
I would also agree that this assignment will be a tough one and I am also struggling to think of a topic. Don't overlook the internet though for primary sources. There are plenty of primary sources out there on the web that are reliable and can be used for your paper such as the SNL skit we watched in class. Good luck on the paper!
Like the majority of our class right now, I too am very worried about this assignment. I do not know which topic to pick. I hope that the Toulmin method is more clear to you now that we went over it in class. I myself am still a little confused. I think that we will go over some topics and such during class so that we all can get a better understanding of this paper.
